Privacy at Swapcakes

The current Swapcakes MVP is a static browser game. It has no player account system or game-data backend. Puzzle records, preferences, and local statistics stay in storage controlled by the browser you use.

What the game stores locally

Swapcakes uses local browser storage for puzzle progress, result history needed for local statistics, theme and contrast choices, and similar play preferences. Daily saves a separate record for each UTC date and puzzle identity so that date’s board can resume after a refresh. Prior Daily progress records can accumulate in the browser until you clear the site’s stored data; the MVP does not automatically prune them.

Unlimited keeps one current resumed round, replacing that current-round record when you request another puzzle. Local storage is not an account and is not synchronized between devices. There is no server copy of saved game state because the MVP has no Swapcakes player-data backend. Someone who can use the same browser profile may be able to view its game records and local statistics.

Analytics and cookies

Analytics are disabled in the current MVP unless they are later deliberately configured. The shipped game does not include an active analytics vendor or use analytics cookies. Swapcakes also does not deliberately set advertising cookies in this version. Browser local storage, described above, is separate from cookies but remains data saved on your device.

If analytics are enabled in a future release, this notice will be updated before that materially new data use begins. The update will identify what information is collected, why it is needed, the relevant provider if one is used, and the choices available to players. We will not describe a future tool as active before it is actually configured.

Advertising

The Swapcakes MVP contains no ads and no active advertising vendor. It does not build an advertising profile from puzzle play. If advertising is introduced later, the privacy notice will be revised before launch to explain the new data flow, vendor involvement, and controls. A policy update would not silently turn the current local game state into advertising data.

Links on the related-games page are ordinary editorial links to official destinations. They are not described as paid placements, affiliate tracking, or endorsements. The destination site applies its own privacy practices after you follow an external link.

Retention and your controls

Each dated Daily record can remain in local storage after that day ends, so prior records may build up rather than being replaced by the next day’s puzzle. The one current Unlimited round is replaced when a new Unlimited puzzle begins. These records remain until you clear the site data, the browser removes them, or you uninstall or reset the relevant browser profile.

Swapcakes cannot remotely erase a local record from a device it cannot identify, and there is no backend copy for us to delete. You can remove local records through the browser’s controls for site data, storage, or browsing data. Clearing them removes puzzle progress, settings, and statistics for this site on that browser and may not be reversible.

Private-browsing modes may discard storage sooner, and browser cleanup settings can remove it automatically. Since there is no player account, there is no account-deletion form and no server profile to request. If you want help locating the appropriate browser control, contact us and name the browser and device; do not send the stored data itself.

Messages you choose to send

If you email hello@swapcakes.com, the message contains whatever contact information and details you choose to provide. It is handled through the email systems used to send, receive, and reply to the message, not through the game’s local progress storage. Use the minimum information needed for the question, and do not include passwords, payment details, identity documents, or other sensitive data.

Contact messages may be kept while needed to investigate the report, respond, maintain a useful record of the issue, or handle abuse. You may ask for a message you sent to be deleted, although copies may remain where retention is reasonably needed for security, record integrity, or an ongoing issue. Because email identifies the address that wrote, make the request from that address when possible.

Children

Swapcakes is a general-audience word puzzle and is not specifically directed to children. The game does not ask for a birth date and does not create player accounts. A child should not send personal information through email without guidance from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child sent personal information in a contact message, write to us with enough detail to locate the message.

Policy changes and questions

This notice may change as the game changes. Before enabling a materially new use of player data—such as configured analytics, advertising technology, accounts, or server-synced progress—Swapcakes will update this page to describe that use. The date at the top shows when this text was last revised. Earlier local play does not imply consent to a service that was not present.

Questions about this notice can be sent to hello@swapcakes.com. This page describes the current product behavior in plain language; it is not legal advice and does not claim compliance with a particular legal regime.
